Certain programs, including teacher licensure preparation programs, may require
English proficiency where it is an essential requirement for participation and
professional licensure. Application materials may be translated upon request; however,
participants must demonstrate English proficiency where required by program standards
or state licensure requirements.

Grievance Procedure
Mālamapōkiʻi has adopted grievance procedures to ensure the prompt and fair resolution of
complaints alleging discrimination under Title VI, Title IX, Section 504, the ADA, and the
Age Discrimination Act.
Step 1: Program-Level Resolution
Individuals who believe they have experienced discrimination should first contact the
Program Director of the relevant program.
The Program Director will review the concern and respond within 10 business days.
Step 2: Executive Director Review
If the issue is not resolved at the program level, the complainant may submit the
complaint in writing to the Executive Director within 15 days of the Program Director’s
response.
The Executive Director will conduct a review and provide a written determination within
30 days.
Step 3: Board Review
If the complainant is not satisfied with the Executive Director’s determination, they may
submit a written appeal to the Mālamapōkiʻi Board of Directors within 15 days.
The Board will review the appeal and issue a final written decision.
